members may continue playing on Wednesdays throughout September (Events
#26–29, Wednesdays, September 7–28). Call the
Carriage Greens Pro Shop at 630-985-3730 to schedule a tee time
for your group. Greens fees are the same as during the
season. The events should start at normal tee times. Scorecards
should not be turned in, as scores will not be entered in the
league database. Enjoy!
Tom Secor won the Event #24 contest (Fewest Putts) with 21 total putts and was awarded a sleeve of golf balls.
Sang-Wook Han won the Event #23 contest (Lowest Net) and was awarded a sleeve of golf balls.
The annual League tournament was played on Friday, September 2 at Carriage Greens. Twenty golfers, including guests, participated in the tournament, and twenty-six attended dinner. Winners of tournament contests were: Steve Heald (Closest to Pin #3), Ed Theres (Closest to Pin #6), Ken Coston (Closest to Pin #11), Frank Ress (Longest Drive in Fairway #13) and Dan Porcaro (Closet to Pin #14). Winners of the 18-hole "Blind Bogey" tournament were: Ed Theres ($100) and Tom Secor ($50). Chuck Benuska was presented with a trophy and traveling trophy as the 2011 AEGL Champion of the year, and League members chose prizes base on order of finishing for the season. Three raffles were held: “Experienced Golf Ball Logo”, “Split the Pot” and 18-holes of golf with carts for a foursome at Carriage Greens. Many thanks to the Carriage Greens staff for a great day of golf and a fine dinner and to our cart girls, Julie and Diane. All participating in the tournament and dinner had a great time.
